(FREE) Tattoo Aftercare Guide - Basic Cling Film & Vaselin

Just got your ink under a basic cling film & Vaseline cover? No worries, here's how to keep that tattoo looking sharp and infection-free.

    • Keep It Short: Cling film stays on for the first 2-4 hours only. This is just to protect it immediately after tattooing.
    • Clean Slate: Once you remove the cling film, wash the area gently with lukewarm water and mild, unscented soap. Pat dry with a clean paper towel.
    • Vaseline Application: Apply a thin layer of Vaseline to keep the tattoo slightly moisturized. This helps prevent cracking and over-drying.
    • Re-wrap? Nope: Unlike Second Skin, you don’t re-wrap with cling film. Let your skin breathe unless advised otherwise by your artist for specific reasons.
    • Hands Off: Resist the urge to touch or scratch. Your hands carry germs that can lead to infection.
    • Shower OK, Bath No: Showers are fine, but avoid soaking your tattoo in baths or pools while it heals.
    • Dress Wisely: Loose, breathable clothing is your tattoo’s best friend. Avoid anything that rubs or irritates the area.
    • Sun Shield: Keep the tattoo out of direct sunlight. Once healed, protect it with a high SPF sunscreen to maintain color and detail.
    • Monitor: Keep an eye on the healing process. Slight redness and swelling are normal, but if you notice any signs of infection, get in touch with your artist.
    • Artist First, GP Second: Any concerns? Your tattoo artist is your go-to. They’ll advise if you need to see a doctor.

Remember, every piece of ink is a piece of art. Protect it from the start, and it’ll stay vibrant and healthy for years to come.
